The April 5, 2018 MCBA MCLE luncheon featured Merced County Superior Court Judge Jeanne E. Schechter as the speaker on the required topic of Legal Ethics entitled “The Ethics of Trials and Tribulations: When Disaster Strikes” about planning for the impact of disasters on a law practice.
Judge Schechter was appointed as a Merced County Superior Court Judge in 2017 following her distinguished service as a Merced County Court Commissioner from 2012 through 2017. Prior to her appointment as Commissioner, Judge Schechter served as a Chief Deputy City Attorney at the Merced City Attorney’s Office from 2004 through 2012, and as a Senior Deputy District Attorney at the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office from 1991 to 2004. Judge Schechter was a sole practitioner from 1990 to 1991. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University.
